Winter Break Part 2- Miami Beach to Downtown Miami

This week was a long stay at miami. When I planned this it was meant to soak up the sun as I know I was getting fairer and needed to get darker but unfortunately when I reached there- It was chilly and cold so no get 2 go beach and sun bath...only can take picture. Luckily we meet some tour guy who we bargained till $95 and he took us to 3 places for 2 days...

We went to Everglades the 1st day and it was to the Gator Park. We went there by bus and it was fun. I learned the difference between Aligator and Crocodile. Then we went for a AirBoat ride. Went into the Everglades swamp and saw the gator in real life action. They have heaps of sawgrass that actually looks like lalang back home LOL... We then came back and went to a tour to downtown miami. We started with an boat ride that took us around to see the houses of the rich and famous in Miami beach. Ppl like Will Smith, Shakir O'Neal, Elizabeth Taylor, J.Lo and the rest all have houses there. A piece of land there ranges between 8-12 Million. JUST THE LAND WEI!!! It doesn't even come with the house...sigh these ppl really rich ah!!!LOL...We then went to a tour around the town with the bus. Saw some of the places of interest in Coral Gables, Little Havana and Coconut Groove=)

The next day we went to Key West!!! It is the southest most tip of the USA!!! We also went to Hemingway's House!!! Surprise rite that Ernest Hemingway actually stayed in Key West before=) It was a cool tour....The whole Island was so big and we only had 4 hours so couldn't finish the whole island but it was good non the lest=)

The next day we transfered to a hotel at Downtown Miami and traveled around there. The place was quite dingy but the location was GREAT!!! right in the middle of the city and transportation to everywhere is abound!!! The first day itself we went to Bayfront Park. It felt like the Esplanade! If only Penang can better spruce it up and make it look like that it will be great!!! Went past the American Airlines Arena where the Miami Heat was playing that night! Had Osyters the night we arrived as it was happy hour so everything was half-priced=) Walked around the next day around town and found the public library, Art Musuem and Art Gallery=) Spend Christmas eve with YR and EH that I would never had dreamed off...LOL..Dun ask me more=)

We planned to go to The Hard Rock Casino on Christmas Day but we were lost and so decide 2 hangout at downtown miami again. We went aorund looking at the night life there and realise all the fun was at Miami Beach which was a bus away but not sure how 2 come back so we just spend christmas Jumping up and down in front of the CHristmas Tree in fornt of Bayfront Park!! It was hillarious but I had fun=)The next day EH managed 2 get a friend of his to fetch is to The casino and it was great! It was at Fort Laudradale and had we gone by bus it would have taken us 2 hours but by car was only 20 minutes=) We spend half a day there walking around and seeing ppl gambling. There were a lot of old ppl there and they were just pressing the slot machines..so lifeless and lost... At 3 we went to Aventura Mall which is the biggest mall in Florida. It was boxing day and they had Boxing Day sale!!! We bought stuff...lots of stuff but it was money well spent=)

Finally we checked out 2day and went to downtown to have a look see...AGAIN!!! EH wanted 2 have Chillies so we went=) later we took a bus to Miami Beach and the weather was so NICE!!! THe time we were at downtown the weather was warming up so we missed the sun tan part but nontheless the trip 2 the beach today was worth while=) Everybody was out at the beach and having fun=) Spend the whole afternoon there till evening and we managed 2 get EH;s friend again 2 fetch us 2 the Airport=) We have so many bags that I wonder how on earth ar we gonna go back in May...this is so gonna be a challenge...

As of now im writing from the airport so will be sleeping soon! Tomorrow..WASHINGTON DC!!!!

Till then ...ciao=)

Thanksgiving+Black Friday....INSANE!!!

This weekend happened this way...

26/11/2009

Woke up late at 9am as The Winch's will be coming at 9.30am. Was done at 9.35 and hurried down just 2 find they were not there yet. Manage 2 relax till 9.45 when they came. Glenn drove all the way from Mankato 2 Rochester. Pass through Waseca and Owatonna and finally reach Rochester. U know ur at Rochester when u see tyhat HUGE corn Cub water tower- The biggest in the world=) Reached Ann's brother-Jerry's house and was greeted with a big snowman blowup with music..so CUTE!!! Meet Ann's whole family-Grandpa, Jerry and Terry, Nancy, Sharron + Mike and a whole lot more that I cannot remember=) We had makan at the Garage which was heated. There was TURKEY, mashed potatoes, Stufings, Corn, Cassarole and DESSERT!!! The mashed Potatoes WAS THE BEST!!!! The gravy and all was just so good!!! after that watche the Green Bay Packers game against Detroit. There was then a Baby Shower which was for Ann's niece who is expecting in March. They were cooing and aweing everytime a present is unwrapped. So funny=) The baby shower was in the Kitchen where the women folk were and the man were all in the living room-so gender bias but its the truth=) We finish and left at 5pm and Ann and Glenn drove me around the heart of Rochester which is the Mayo Clinic. The Clinic building was so nice but too bad i cannot stay out side too long to take pictures as it was TOO COLD!!! the wind kept blowing and I was not dressed for outside. So I just took a few photos and hopped into the car again. We then drove all the way back to Mankato and They decided 2 feed me first b4 dropping me off to my dorm. So nice kan! They cooked pasta with cheese! Had my full b4 i balik=) When I balik it was already around 10.30pm and I was expecting my floor to be empty. Surprise Surprise when I found Mike and Brandon in their room with their friends. They were there 4 Black Friday Shopping! So I asked if I can tumpang when they are leaving. They said ok and will let me know when they were leaving. I then went into my room and started to watch TV.

27/11/2009

My door knocked at 2.30am and Mike told me that they were leaving to Walmart. I wanted 2 go to Target so I said I'll just follow and then walked 2 Target at 4am as it will only open at 5am. Mike saw what I was wearing and said I need more layers. I wore 4 and then they said ok. I was HOT!!! but when we went out it was COLD!!! went to WalMart and ppl were there already, lining up 2 buy the stuff they want! It Was CRAZY!!! We walked around to see and They bought stuff but I didnt as I need 2 say money 4 only 1 thing- IPOD TOUCH 32G! At 3.30am, Eddie(Mike's friend) decided 2 go see his friends at Target. They had been waiting there since 2.30am. When we met them, the line was from the entrance till the bus stop. So we decided to talk and mingle with them before I squeeded into the line! YES I JUMPED THE LINE!!!I'm evil but i dun wanna join the line, it wa scrazy long k!!! We waited in the bitter cold! 4 layers and It was STILL NOT ENOUGH!!! As it was getting closer to 5am, we and the people in front of us were ploting and forming strategies to how to get the stuff we all want and can help each other get them. It was the first time I encountered that. When the door opened, EVERYBODY RUSH LIKE MAD wei!!! people were running into the mall and the workers just stood by the isle laughing! Someone fell but there was some1 2 help her up so I just went along. I got my Ipod and was super happy, especially when I paid 4 it!!!!=) After that the line was just growing it a looooooooooooong line. CRAZY WEI!!! Even Pizza Hut counter became a check out counter. So funny. Mike and the rest came to meet us and we went 2 scheels to buys some more stuff for Eddie. We wanted 2 go 2 Manards but the carpark indicated to us that It was CRAZY to join so we left. We went to Best Buy and the line was also long so we judt left and decided 2 go makan breakfast at McD. It was 7.30am when we reached the dorm. I thought I was going 2 tidur first when at 7.50am, Ann called and asked if i wanna join them 4 shopping, as i still needed 2 buy a skin and a screen protecter 4 my Ipod, I joined them and was back at Target at 8.15am. We walked around and realise that it was quite expensive so I decided not 2 buy till I finish checking everything out. We went to Shopko and waited 4 abt half an hour because of the line and then we waited at Jo-Ann fabrics for 2 hours because the line was Crazy long. Old aunties were buying cloths 2 sew and knit and their cloths were 20/30 pieces and all only want 1 yard. So long k. Finally we went back 2 Walmart and It was the cheapest 2 buy stuff. I bought my skin and protecter and was done. Ann said that Glenn wanted 2 cook friend rice and so i said i'll help them cook Friend rice ala Malaysian style. We bought the stuff needed like garlic, onions and halapenio 2 replace the dried chille. We baought prawns too=) By the time we balik to the Winch's house, I was too tired and jsut slept on their couch after staying awake 4 36 hours! I just tumbang and slept till 5am-a total of 4 hours sleep=)

When I woke up it was 5pm and Ann had set up the Christmas Tree! I went to teh Kitchen to see Glenn preparing for the fried rice! He cooked the rice ready said that only 2 of us will be eating the fried rice as the rest will be eating beef stew. So I prepared the garlic and the chille. Glenn started cooking so I just helped him and in the end He allowed me to cook and I fried the rice as good as I can remember how my mum cooked it. In the end, it tasted good! We had a round table makan and it was the first time I felt like I was with family!!! So warm the feeling. We the cleaned up and we decorated the tree. We watched a movie after that-The Polar Express until 10pm. Ann then dropped me back to my dorm.

28/11/2009

The Saturday was boring. Woke up at 2pm as I was too tired. Spend the whole day doing my work. Had cheese on toast 4 lunch. Was invited 2 makan dinner with Natsua at her dorm and after makan, when I reached my dorm the hall was again empty, I suppose Mike left 2 go home.

29/11/2009

Went to church and had fun with the kids. First time I had advent and it was with them and we did a mural of Jesus's birth. After church, Ann and the kids brought me along 2 Wendy's to have lunch. After that, I had been stuck in the dorm doing work till dinner at the cafeteria. Back to work until then till now.

Over all I think I had a good Thanksgiving=) Black Friday was Insane but I'm glad I was there to experience it=)

Till then...ciao=)

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

I'm plagued to decide all sorts of choices that are given to me. Choices that will effect my adventure here in the US. Rushmore or Chicago? Artifacts or Essays? All sorts of decisiosn to decide. To choose which group of friends to go with and I have no idea who I wanna join or where I wanna go. People will get hurt if I decide to or against and I do not want to be the person that people hate. Already I have done so many things wrong and I don't know why and how it happened?

Things are not easy. Choices are offered and decisions have to be made and all have to be done fast! I hate this feeling... Why can't we do things like back home? WHat happened to being a last minuter? Sorry no such thing when ur in US...

I wish things would be easier. I wish there was a book that tells me what should I do. I wish that God would just let me know which is the best road to take and just close the others so that I do not feel regretful and look at my opportunity cost.

May the Lord help me and give me strength!!!

LORD Unto your hands I commit again!!!

Holloween and more...

Halloween started early for me. I went to a get together organized by my friend Brian on Halloween eve at his place off campus. We walked to his place at around 9.30pm. People were dressed up in different costumes. There were witches, devils, lumberjack and others. A few of the international students including myself did not dressed up but mixed and match our cloths and came up with something. We played Wii and card games. I was introduced to different card games that were played all over the world. There were games from Finland to Ethiopia and of course American card games. I learnt a whole need set of card games. Later we left the party and wanted to go back to the dorms.

When I was resting in my room, Sully called me to join her at another party that was organized by the Maverick Bullpen which is the game room area. It was open day where we get to play pool and bowling for free. People were all dressed up in different and weird costumes and it was funny in some of them. One guy was a stripper while another cross-dressed. There was even a group of friends who dressed up in the whole complete set of characters from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ including Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb, Cheshire cat and the Queen of Hearts. It was really cool. There was a costume completion, lucky draws and a band playing. We play pool for a while before the announcement for the costume competition was announced. Not surprising the winner for the competition was the stripper. It was so funny when after he was awarded his prize; his friends took a photo of him being hand cuffed in all kinds of positions. We left after the party and that was when I realized I lost my phone. I went back and tried looking for it but could not find it. I tried calling it but the battery died soon after as there was not much battery left. I really hope someone would find it and give it back to me. I posted notices around the campus so I can only hope that it will be returned to me if it is found as soon as possible as I really need the phone for a lot of other functions like for time and alarm clock.

Overall Halloween was fun but the bummer was my lost phone. It was great to dress up and see people going all out in their costumes. It sucked as I now have to buy a new phone and phones here are exp. I love Malaysia more now....

Till then...Ciao=)

Birthday Getaway

It was fall break and my birthday so Kaori, Brian, Oona, Rabya and me went 2 Minnapolis, it was so long d since I havent gottten out of Mankato that I was so jakun when I left. I felt stupid at times but hey when u dun have a car here, Everything is far. Here public transport is crap so I appreciate Malaysia more now even though our public transport is crap too.

We went to Edina, Brian's dad's house. It was a sub urb setting at the place was GOOD!!! It was a rich man's area wei. according 2 Brian, CEOs of BestBuy, Walmart, Target and others all own houses here. There was a house wif 6 LUXURY cars like cardillac, ferrari and all. I only manage 2 see the cadillac when the garage open but still!!! Americans with their material possessions~~sigh...

We went to Mall of America and walked the whole day 4 min 4 hours and that also we didnt finish the mall...Too big d la the mall!!!....

Went back to Edina n on the way we brought Alchohol. We had a drinking spree at the basement and needless to say, I join in the fun la. I drank and drank and drank and yes, I was drunk...for a while. I was tipsy and spoke crap. Almost smoked weed when it was offered but had to restarin myself as i'm inexeperienced and the experience ppl also didnt want to. So since the experienced ppl didn't do it, I dun think i should. It was a smart call cause the pplk who did smoke after tat was GONE!!! They had no idea what happened and we woke up at 1pm. It was great though. During that time they celebrated my birthday and I had a birthday Pizza! I love practicality!!=)

On our way home we talkeda bout what happened last night and realised all the crap we were talking and I was embarassed at the info i let loose 2 them. Its only weird if u see it that way....

Its only weird if you see it that way,
no one knows and no one cares,
If you can see through the weirdness and all,
then you would see the beauty of it all.

The times we had was fun and easy going,
nice, comfortable and simply pleasing.
We told each other everything,
which was the best part of the whole thing.

Secrets that we wouldn't dream telling,
went through advantures that were quite thrilling,
and just because of a spontaneous saying,
you want to throw away everything?

Why oh Why do u keep seeing its weirdness,
but not look at the other side, the brightness,
there is nothing to be weird about,
unless you yourself are in doubt?

The times when we would just talk,
tease and poke fun when we walk,
now even when we talk,
your guard is on to block.

What's there to block i do not know,
unless there is something that you do not want to show.
I have no clue how your brain goes,
but something tells me that you know.

I know the timing was sucky down right
Trust me, it was not suppose to come to light,
but all the questions at that night,
Why oh Why didn't I kept my lips tight!

Take all the time you need to heal,
recollect and find your ideals,
soul search while having fun,
enjoy it to the fullest with no intended pun.

The ball is now at your court,
I'm not asking you to do anything.
just don't weird out on me now,
we'll see how it goes for here...

Sorry missed last week...

I know i lost last week but nothing exciting happened anyway so i'm just gonna let it slide.

This week there has been a lot of happeing shit to me!!!

First was the best! SNOW!!!! My first snow and it was so cool. The snow looked like tiny grains of sand and it was ssssoooo cool! Tried to taste it and looked like and idiot when I stuck my tongue out to try 2 taste it. Everyone was staring at me! luckily no one took any pictures=) The pics of my first snow is on Fb so go find it if u wanna see how excited I was...LOL

The week has come and gone and it was really really a roller coaster ride. Found out some stuff about other people that I didn't ever expect to know and It was interesting and curious even andmade me wanna know more now=) Other stuff are quite depressing but it was a case of not knowing when to shut up! Stuff that I said I wish i could take back but now that its out, it there! I hope the person would look beyond what was said... Its a relief that i said it cause it had been such a long time wel kept secret and now that its out of my chest, I can't believe its weird...Dun hide from me, talk to me...

There was attempts taken by others to make me drunk! but unfortunately, Mission to get Sean Drunk--Attempt 1 ---FAILED as I forgot 2 bring my passport and thus was denied entry to many many clubs! I then decided to take the bus back 2 take my passport and found out on the way back that the bus doesn't take return passangers. Its a one way bus! That means a $8 taxu ride back, NA AH!! NO way Jose am I gonna spent 8 bucks to go back. So thats y now i'm here in my room typing this blog... There will be other times and frankly I was thinking of getting drunk=)..just 4 the hack of it=)

A lot of assignments to finish so till then...ciao=)

Malaysian Gathering and more..

This weekend was indeed a highlight!

Friday saw me shopping with Jesse, Sully, Isabel and Mirjana. We went around town and it was good.

Saturday was when the fun started. The Homecoming perade was fun and I joined as a flag bearer. Carried the Malaysian Flag around and when ppl ask meif I'm Malaysian, they were surprised that I was. So funny! The Homecoming parade was on Saturday and Sully and I participated. We were supposed to be flag bearers for our countries in our traditional clothes under the International Students Association’s banner but the weather was too cold for us to wear them. We just went in our jackets and joined the parade. It was great fun to see all the floats that the people had decorated. The theme for Homecoming was ‘Stomper Saves the Day’. Stomper is the MSU mascot. There were all sorts of different forms of Stomper. He was Batman, The Hulk, Spiderman and Superman and many more. The floats were decorated with them. Some of the figures on the floats even moves. The students really put effort into them. The Sororities and Fraternities also had their own floats. They were very nicely decorated. The African Students Association was behind our float and they had African music blasting behind their float. It was cool as they danced down the parade. We walked for about half and hour and then we stopped as the weather was too cold. It was raining that morning so the temperature was pretty low.

At six, Glenn picked me up to go to Rachael’s birthday. It was fun as I got to meet their friends and family. They introduced me as their international family. So sweet of them=) They had a bonfire burning outside and it was so nice to be around the fire during the cold. We play volley ball till dark that Glenn drove his car to their backyard and shined the court and we continued playing. When Rachael and Alyssa’s friends found out where I come from, they were so interested to find out more about Malaysia and when they realised how old I was, they could not believe me. We had fun together. We then gathered around the fire and Rachael showed me how to make smores. It was so much fun roasting the marshmallow and it tasted good. The marshmallow just melted in the heat and when I put it into my mouth, it was sweet and savoury all together in a bite. So lovely! We chatted around the fire and I learnt of 3 siblings who were adopted from Russia- Andrei, Vladimir and Anna. They were so open about it and Vladimir was just a fun kid to be with. When it was getting to cold we went indoors and played Apples to Apples and there was 17 people playing it. It was by far the largest group I have seen playing this game. We had fun playing and realised that the international players were winning! Andrei and I were leading and eventually we won! So funny! When the game was over, Glenn dropped me back to MSU at 11pm. It was a nice evening as I made friends with these kids and I really enjoyed feeling young again, living my youth that I had since past...

On Sunday after church, I attended a Malaysian get together organised by fellow Malaysian in MSU. Through this meeting, I finally met all the Malaysians that are studying here. There are 6 of us. As typical Malaysian, when we meet, we eat. We had steamboat which I had not have for a long time and when there was a pot of spicy flavoured soup, I was so happy! It was so long since I had something spicy as there food served at the cafeteria were always not spicy as I was explained to me that Americans have a low tolerance to spicy food. It was so good to have something from home and especially better during this cold weather where it warms you right up. Somebody brought mooncake and it just added brighten up my day. Saturday was supposed to be Mid Autumn Festival back home and we would always have mooncake during that festival. I thought I would not have them here but when it was brought out, I was so happy! After we had our fill, we cleared up the room and went home. Although it was only a short gathering but the knowledge of knowing fellow Malaysian are around in campus was kind of comforting. The few hours of being able to speak the language and use terms that others can understand without explaining the meaning was just great.

I then attended a NBA game in the evening. It was free for a few of us exchange students as the offer was sent to us by the international Students Association Graduate Assistant. It was the Minnesota Timberwolves verses the Milwaukee Bucks and it was the pre season game. We went and watched it and it was so cool to be so near the NBA players. They were really GOOD! All the dunking and passing, it was just great. They have performances during half time and that was phenomenal. There little kids break dancing and the best was the performance when 3 people using trampoline to dunk the balls. They were just AWESOME! Unfortunately I could not finish watching the game as the cafeteria would be close by the time the game was over so I had to leave mid way for food. Will try to attend next time and sit for the whole game.

All in all this weekend was a good one but now I have to suffer the consequences of a fun filled weekend. Assignments are piling up and I need to finish them as soon as possible.

Till then...Ciao=)

Glenn's birthday(25/9/09)

It was Glenn's birthday on Friday and Kaori, Maria and I were invited for a dinner party at a pizzaria downtown. We Had 3 14' pizzas-4 cheese, Pepperoni and Deli. The 4 cheese was the best=) kaori and I gave Glenn a card and a pack of snikers. Maria gave him a card. We all ate till we were full.

After dinner they drovw us to their house and MAN was their house HUGE!!! It has a backyard of a football field and it was behind a soy bean field. Aaron showed me the brick circle he was building. IT WAS A HUGE HOUSE and they only go it for $250000!!! cheap rite.

We went into the house and played ping pong at the basement. They even have a drum set in the basement. SO COOL. While waiting for Glenn to come back from getting ice cream, Aaron and I played WII while the girls played with the cat. Ann brought in the cake which she baked by herself and it was spelled DAD hahaha

We sang happy birthday to Glenn when he came back. Later we played a game called Apples to Apples. It was great fun=) We had a little family time in the living room later and we just chilled. Bullied Aaron for a while=) and then we called it a night at 10pm. Glenn drove us home.

On my way to my room, I realised that I left my keys at their house so i had to call Glenn at their home and they helped me find it. It was at the basement by the ping pong table. Glenn drove all the way back to Crawford to give it back to me. So touched and paiseh...

And that was basically my weekend. Wasn't a very exciting one this week. Hopefully it will pick up the next.

Till then...ciao!

I WON!!! I WON!!!!

Today was such an AWESOME day taht I have to blog about it!!!! I went to St Peter Regional Treatment Centre for community service and ended up with so much more. There was a Diversity Event held by the St Peter Regional Treatment Centre and Sully, Isabel and I went for it. We had to bring things from our home country to promote our country to the inmates. We were there since 10am and Karla and Bert, the representatives from the Centre brought us to St Peter. I was excited as it was my first trip out of Mankato. We reached the Centre and set up our tables and started sharing with everybody that came by. It was fun. We talked for hours. Although the inmates were all classified as mentally ill and dangerous, the people that came were quite fun to be with. They were very engaging and asked a lot of interesting questions. Now I know how the Tourism board people feel when they go around the world promoting Malaysia in exhibitions. After the event, Bert took us around St Peter and when she heard that we have not seen an apple tree before, she drove us to a staff member’s house name Catherine who had an apple tree in her yard. We had fun and I got to pick my first apple from an apple tree=) After that Bert drove us back to Mankato. It was a short but fun trip and I was so thankful that Bert brought us around without us asking. That was so hospitable of them.

later after dinner, there was Fire Dance in the field in front of the Performance Art Theatre. It started at 8pm. Went there with Nanayah, Nargiza, Lennard and Sully. We saw the performance and it was GOOD! The girls were hot but the guys were not...LOL...love the performance though. Had so much fun with the stuff that they laid out for us to play with and we even got to play the drums for the event=) came back to the dorm at 9.30 and met Mike and the gang in the lounge and they told me that the Study Buck draw was at 10pm later. Went to my room and took my bucks and went down to the lobby to see what was there. Prize 1 was a free T-shirt and some candies. Prize 2 (which was what Mike and the rest was aiming for) was a box of PopCorn and some chick flick and Prize 3 was DVD of season 4 of Entourage. I wanted a free T shirt and so I put my bucks into the 1st jar. When the draw started, low and behold, I WON!!!! so now I have a free T-shirt and a lot of candy. Gave Mike and the rest some but i took the sniker bars and 100 grand chocolates=)So happy!!!

So that in short concludes my day today. So happy! It was a GOOD DAY!!!=)

Till then...CIAO=)

Pow Wow and more!

This weekend was fun filled! The weekend is finally picking up!!! Yeah man!

Weekdays are always boring. Always eat, sleep, study. Now have to do annotated Bib somemore. So kelian wei. So much work to do. That y weekends are always welcome.

It started on Friday that I did all my studies and went shopping during the night. Went to Old Navy but nothing much are cheap. So decided to ask Sully to ask Jimmy 2 drive us downtown on saturday.

Was suppose to meet at the Cafeteria at 11.30am. Dah sampai 12 only they rayau masuk. So by the time they we ready, it was 1.30pm. Walk 2 the carpark was 1.45pm and guess what, Jimmy can't drive a stick!!! To cut the long story short, we somehow manages 2 get there(wanna know how? PM me) and we went shopping at the thrift stores. Things were cheaper there. went back at 5.15pm. Had to go for fesyen show at 5.30 so ran back to dorm, bath, change and ran out to find Kaori in her Yukata. so PRETTY. Took a picture and went to the venue together. Had fun at the fesyen show it was 2 CH so i think it was worth it. Later at 9pm, we went downtown to party and that when the real shit happens. Went to The Haze at 10 and it was deserted, stayed on till 11.30pm and left for the Shisa Bar. Smoked Shisa for my 1st time but tak jadi. Tried 10 over times but STILL tak jadi. Ended up swallowing everything. I take it as God's sign of saying no smoking for u! LOL. Went back 2 The Haze at 1am and this time it was happening! Went dancing and 2 guys came hitting on Kaori. She was not putting up a struggle so i guess it was fine. When the guys tried pulling her off the group then only she wiggled her way out and in the end we left cause we were hungry and the place was HOT!!! Saw all sorts of crazy stuff in there!!! Had some fries and then balik at 2 something!!! This was the only day since I was here that I did not do any work or reading and I had FUN!!!

Sunday came, went to church then hurried back for Pow Wow. Mana tau the bus did not come. How 2 go? Luckily Chikara had a car, convinced him 2 go so i paid him 4 gas. It was cool!!! The dancers and the colours were magnificant!. First Native indian culture experience=) Pics are at FB so go check it out there!=)

So that was my weekend. Things are starting 2 pick up so hopefully it will be better next week.

Till then...Ciao=)

A take at Mankato on Labour Day

As I was stuck in my room for 2 days straight as there was nothing to do in Mankato but eat, sleep and study in mr room, I decided not to make Labor Day another day in my room. I was not as lucky to be invited to anyones house like Zully nor was my plan of travelling to Milwaukee to see Chin Chin Che Che came to past as because of the stupid bus schedule. Can u believe that there is only 1 bus that leaves from campus at 7.30pm daily!!! then the landtoair express only leaves from campus at 3&6pm. WTH!!! people wants to leave in the morning has to go all the way downtown which is a 20 minutes walk(as u will find out later) at 4.30am as the bus leaves at 5am. STUPID!!!!

Anyway I decided to do some exploration. Low and behold, the bus does not operate on Labor Day. Great!!!! Determined not to spend another day of Fall confind in my room, I decided to WALK to downtown of North Mankato. Armed with my map, my water bottle and my camera, i set foot and WALKED!!!!

I went down the hill(MSU is built on a hill) and saw a park. I went and explored the park for a while and then found a Vietnam War Memorial. It was so cool!!! and opposite it are houses. I left and continued my journey of trees and fields and about 20 minutes later, I reach town. It was a different feel there. There were Cherry trees along the road on Cherry Street. People having family barbeques, family outing, neighbours sharing life stories. Then I stumbled upon the Mankato riverfront trail which saw the Minnesota River=) Next to it was the train station and learnt that that was where Mankato was founded, along the rivier. Opposite it was the North Mankato Memorial Library. It had a plaque outside stating that it was in Mankato that 33 Dakota Indians were executed while 303 were pardoned by the then President Abraham Lincoln here. It was apperently a dark chapter of the Native American History. So cool to be in such a hsitoric city=)

When I reached MSU, It was only 1.30pm. I heard that there was a sale at River Hills Mall so I decided to check it out. Man was it a mistake! It looked so near on the map but in reality, it was actually a 7KM walk!!! Determined not to give up half way, i soldiered on with my map, almost getting lost, and reached the mall within 2 hours. I enjoyed my accomplishment for an hour and started my journey back so not to miss dinner at 6pm. The journey was long and I was praying all along the way that someone would see me and offer me a ride but too bad I'm not attractive enough nor lucky to enjoy the Northern Hospitality. Everybody just zoom by, pointing, laughing and drovw off. SUcky!!!

Throughtout my journey today, I saw another side of America that I did not see when I'm on the bus. For one, the ecomony has really hit hard on Americans. Many shops are closed and rented out because of it. People use bicycles more too to save on gas and at the Salvation Army, there were a number of people lining up for free lunch. Everybody is trying to safe a buck and make their lives a little better. People shop more on the clearance section, Parents refusing to give in to their children's whims and fancies and only buying things that needed. It was an eye opening sight compared to what was shown on TV.

Another thing is that Minnesotans really appreaciate the sun a lot. They would air their garage, play catch in the sun, biking along the trails and have barbeque just outside the lawn with the family. Anything just to be in the sun. This is so much different then back home where everybody runs away because its too hot. We take sunshine for granted as its always there, 24/7 whole year round. Here, they are doing all they can when the sun is around especially when winter is arriving soon. They are planning and doing things that require the sun soonest before winter arrives. The sight of this makes me nervous sometimes as I do not know the extend of what winter has to hold in Minnesota.

It was so tiring after the long walking of 22KM!!! I wish I have a car here or I was in Minneapolis where everything is within reach. where even though stupid bus would stop on holidays, there is still the LRT or walking to a great new place. Even to catch a bus is easier there as all buses stop at the University of Minneapolis. Mankato just sucks wei when I wanna go out of this place to see more of US. Everything is so inconvinient.

The International Student Office also same. They should make la a trip out of Mankato for exchange students. NNNNNOOOOO!!!!! Instead we are all stuck in Campus and seeing each other everyday.

and that was how I spent my Labor Day...Caio

Thursday, September 3, 2009

I'm an exchange student...GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!

I feel so trapped here. I wanna get out but buses here are so in convinient. They only leave for the cities 2 a day. 3pm and 6pm. What abt the ppl who wanna leave in the morning? This is shitty wei. I wanna get out 2 Milwaukee on Labor Day also cannot. If i leave i will hv 2 skip class but when i come back on manday, i can only reach at 11.30pm, and thats in Downtown. hv 2 find way 2 my dorm somemore and it cost USD$150 This sucks!!!

I need 2 find ppl who has a car. It is so much more convienient! here without a car is like cutting of ur legs, literally. U can't walk at night cause it would be freaking cold. Temps at nite can go as low as 5/6'C here.

I need friends who can make me around!!! or at least hv an interest going out and not just staying in campus. Im getting bored of campus!!! these 4 walls are KILLING ME!!!

ARGH!!!!

18-23/8/09 My First week

Its has been a week since I first came here and so far things have been ok with a little kicks here and there.

Orienntation was actually enjoyable and fun. The people were nice, even the Peer Mentors(PMs la). Best part was they were all International students from all over the world. Meet all sorts of ppl, from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, China, Utophia, Uganda, South Africa, Serbia, Austria, Khazastan and many, many more...

The food here has alot of fried and cheese stuff, not that I'm complaining. But I feel its quite unhealthy without vege cause the only thing they hv for vege is a salad bar. BUT i'm enjoying my macoronni and cheese so YEPPIE!!!

The weather here is wack I tell u. When I first arrived, temp was around 17'C even at night but within a week, it went down to like 12'C. CRAZY MAN!!! Thank God for water heathers or not I wont mandi at all man.

Currently the only thing I dun quite like is my roommate. Name's Bati (Essense,LOL) and he is From Utopia. He is nice and all but the thing I dun quite like his gang. They are quite loud and they like 2 gather in the room to talk and with 4 /5 of them talking at the same time, it's VERY LOUD!!! The things they talk abt are also just in the circle and I hv no clue so I get ignored. So I'm stuck at my little corner, on9ing. The worst part is, he asked me (politely la of course) 2 exchange room with his best friend so that he can room with him but the problem is I hv 2 change my address and the paperwork is too much of a hassle. So he said he might ask the other guy to move here. We'll C how it goes. Frankly if it was not the paperwork, I would LOVE to move cause I dun wanna b in a room where the other person doesn't want me there. Y I always kena so much drama 1!? Sigh...

Went to the Steele County Fair at Owatona (1 hour drive by bus from Mankato) yesterday and it was FUN!!!. Had my first corndog, Watched my first Pig Race and My first demolision car derby. IT WAS SOOOO CCCOOOLLLLL!!! Touched a pig and the american pigs are HUGE!!! Everything here is huge, their houses, horses, rabbits, cattle, pigs, every single 1 of them=) Visited a Village of Yesteryear and saw a lot of stuff. C all pictures at FB k. I lazy 2 upload them here again.

Well class starts today so we'll c how it goes. Taking 15 credits this sem, the most so far from the ppl i know but we'll c how it goes. I have no classes on friday ( I ARRAGED IT THAT WAY HEHE) and class only starts from 12pm so yeah!!!

Take care now. Ciao=)

Continue from Changi

After I left for Japan, it was a 7 hour flight from Singapore. MAN IT WAS LONG!!!!

Reached Japan and transited for 2 hours. then flew to Minneapolis for 12 hours. By the time i reach MN at 1.30pm(US TIME), I was complete drained out. Sat and waited for 2 hours b4 I met the woman who came 2pick me up. Her name was Lisa Stofel and since we had 2 more hours b4 the next girl comes, She took me 2 MALL OF AMERICA!!!!. It was SO BIG!!!! We took the LRT there and Minneapolis only has 1 line. LOL.

Went back after 1 and a half hour and when we reached the airport, I met Sully(pronounced Soo Li) -from Costa Rica. We chatted and found out she was also majoring in TESL. LOL. Same advisor some more. Later we met Isabel from Nicaragua. She also majoring in TESL and thus the 3 of us from Ugrad are doing TESL!!!LOL The last 2 girls finally arrived and they were from a program call Forecast but alsi sponsored by World Learning.

On the way back driving from Minneapolis 2 Mankato was abt 1 and a half hour drive and being still on Malaysian time, I had major jetlag and slept all the way. Saw some beautiful scenaries but too tired to take any pictures. Sorry guys.

Reached Walmart to buy some sheets and pillows in total zombie mode. Reached and registerd at Crawford Hall and went straight 2 bed.

18/8/2009

Woke up at 6.30am 2 bathe and was out the door by 7 2 walk around campus b4 meeting dr Ishrat at 8am at the International student centre. Talked 2 her, registerd and went around looking at different activities that they offer in campus. Loved the stuff that they have. Thinking of stuff 2 join but we'll c.

The Orientation was FUN. I cant believe that its o different here than in Msia. Here the PMs actually help u and speak nicely unlike the ones back home. They even drive u around like now I just came back from River Hills Mall and drop u off right to ur doorstep.

looking forward 2 tell u more stuff but got 2 go. need 2 sleep now.

Ciao

Greeting from Changi Airport=)

i just reach changi and is suppose 2 be in the Transit hotel sleeping but i couldn't resist the temptation to know whats happening outside so i went out exploring.

Changi is HUGE!!!! and looks like a mall. As i'm writing this, i'm outside at the concorse using a free wireless computer next to a free xbox playstation and a HUGE PLASMA SCREEN movie theatre with a bar next to it. ITS EVERY GUYS DREAM PAD, if only i can hv that in my house=)*~keep on dreaming Sean LOL~*

Will be heading of towards Narita next at 0545 but that would mean wakingh up at 3 2 check out and walk there to ge my boarding pass at the Transit D counter b4 4am. SUCKY!!! Whats worst, I'm at the transit hotel at terminal 2 and the Transit D counter is at Terminal 1. The Skytrain stops operations at 2.30am and will only resume at 5am. THEREFORE, I will hv 2 WALK! YES WALK from terminal 2 to Terminal 1 just 2 wait again 4 2 more hours b4 i get 2 board my flight. Talk abt suckyness but that will just hv 2 to do. I think/hope I'll enjoy it. Its a new place after all so all in the name of exploration=)

Because I know I won't be able 2 sit the Skytrain layter at 5am, I decided to take it just now at 1.30am and guess what, in that ride, I was ALONE!!! I had the whole bif train 2 myself!!! IT WAS SO COOL!!! Its like living in a world that no one existed and the people just disappeared=)

This is a new beginning, a start of something new and with it, my advanture begins=) That's all for now. Will update again if i get the chance 2 use free wifi in Narita=)

Till then, signing off from Changi, Singapore...Ciao=)

As THE DAY draw near...

How time flies, its now less than 20 days away-18 to be exact- b4 i fly off 2 US.

IT has been a holiday that I have wanted after 3 yrs of the course. I always felt that 3 yrs was too long for a TESL course and wanted a change of environment. However, now that I've got it, I've new things coming to mind. WHAT IF I didn't get it and had continued wif my studies? WHAT IF it was all for nothing but fun and games? WHAT IF this was not really what I wanted? WHAT IF? WHAT IF?....

All that aside, I've started to plan my packing. What to bring? What to buy? buy here or buy there? OH the 1000 million things to think abt. I suck sometimes, especially when Dad is away at Melacca and I need stuff done that only he can do when he is around. I'm leaving in less than 18 days and all he ever think abt is his STUPID tender happening. Heck he spends more time wif his computer when he is home than us. I don't know why I'm feeling like this. I've nvr felt like this b4? Y am I so hung up of my father spending time wif me? Y do I feel like my parents love my sibs more than me? Am I jealous because I'm selfish? Y do i feel unappreciated by them?....

Growing up its always been that I have to get stuff done by myself if I want stuff. I always have to find my own way to get stuff done whereas they hv everything given to them. I have to sacrifice just because i'm Koko. I hv to go f6 because no money if I go overseas. I hv 2 go public Uni so that they can go college. I hv 2 find my own scholarship because they are not gonna be able to afford wif Sibs going to college BUT when I grad, I MUST help PAY for their education especially when they go overseas, be it UK, NZ or Australia!!! WHERE IS THE FAIRNESS WEI!!!!

ANYWAY...back to the main point, I'm leaving soon but I'm so not prepared. Just started listing today and man do i hv lots of stuff to bring... hvn't even decided which luggage 2 bring, how many to bring, what to bring, when wanna leave for KL, where to stay when i'm in KL b4 I fly off..oh the things to think abt!!! HEADACHE AH!!! Some more hv 2 visit relatives b4 I leave... aiyo....

Oh well...I suppose it should all come to pass and I will soon look back and smile at this, but for now....ARGH!!!!....

Ciao=D

Of meetings and Gatherings....

After I got my visa on last monday, things seem to move so slowly...

Had to stay back for Pre Departure Orientation on last Wednesday so had to keep staying on in PJ. Personally I wanted to go home but because of this I had to sleep in the living room till Thursday, or so I thought. Thought of giving the Sunday Steamboat wif housemates a skip as I've been in PJ for far too long d. Then Wednesday passed and Thursday came and the Sunday steamboat became a tempting idea. So stayed in the PJ house for the whole thursday and felt that it just ticked away....told myself will not waste my friday like that=D

Friday came and went to around Shob's new place in the pretext of wanting to get the Stuff form Kuching from Hui Woon but ended up making Pizza wif Grace and had makan dinner wif Hui Woon, Kouji and Elven. Catched up with them on the latest happenings and had fun. Had 'Kam Chia Hua'- a sarawakian dish that tasted just like pork but Hui Woon says its vegetarian so it was unbelieably good=D Went to cell and met new ppl. Had fun and reaslised It was my last cell after 3 yrs b4 i leave for US for a year...So gonna miss them=D

Saturday came and met up wif more ppl. The gathering was good but too bad it was so short. Wished we had more time dearies=D

Went to church on sunday and told them it might be my last sunday wof them. Aunty Doreen wanted 2 hv lunch wif me but too bad Ah Boy and the gang said earlier so I went wif them for lunch. Left Kidzone b4 it even finished. So bad rite!!! Looks like I didnt't do a good job saying good bye there=(

Had lunch wif Chia Hoa, Fei How, Edwin, Jackson, Yeong Lin and Ah Tak. Man it has been long since we all had makan time together like that. The last was in Kolej I think...We were fist yrs then, now all sudah besar, working and interning---I miss the old days... Watched 'Obsessed' wif them and man was it a show filled wif loopholes. Entertaining no doubt but so not believeable=D

Came back thinking that will help in preparation for steamboat but Mum had to call and ask me to get 'Swidish bitters' of all times. SO BAD TMING!!!! I had to leave and when i came back it was already almost 7.45. Makan was suppose 2b at 7.30 and i looked so bad for not doing anything and just makan. When everybody reached we started makan and tat was when we slowly got 2 know everybody! There was 15 ppl there that nite and it was acombination of housemates, ex-housemates, housemates loved ones and squaters(me)... Dr Juliana called and talked like for hours and I missed cleaning up time as well as the guest leaving. Another bad farewell on my part! SUCH A JERK aren't I!!! SO SORRY PPL!!!!

My fliight ticket is here and will be flying off on 16/8 at 10.45pm at KLIA. based on what i've done and evaluaded myself, I think I don't deserve anything for my friends...I should just go off and get out of their lives...I feel so small and undeserving...

Better get a hole a just bury myself...Thank God I'm going back tomorrow!!! Ciao")

Y oh Y???....

Why do I feel like I'm missing something? I see Jinni, Rachel and Francis day in day ot going to school for teaching practise and find myself wondering have I made the right choice? Was postponing my studies just for a free trip to US really worth it? I will not have the support that I'll get like now if I go for teaching practise next year, comfortable with my batchmates who I've come to be close with. Instead YR and I'll be left hanging with the juniors and I wonder is that a good thing? Will I get the support system that I will get now? Will it be tougher? Will I get along with the juniors? Will the conditions be as favourable to me next year as it would be to me this year?

All the sudden the grass on the other side just got greener. I have the urge to go do teaching practise and ditch US. But all is too late. I've already chosen this path and must continue with it as there is NO TURNING BACK!!!. I can't turn back time or travel with a time machine and go back to December. There is nothing I can do as I feel powerless fighting against my pass decisions.

Y the sudden impluse to want to experience what the rest is experiencing I dun know. BUT 1 thing is for sure, I think the feeling of looking back will continue to happen this week as I wait in A5-1, HM patiently till Monday to collect my Visa at Wisma MCA.

How do I make it go away I dun know but I hope it will. I do not want to regret not going to US but I will forever remember it as the reason that i'm not convoing in 2010 with the TESL batch of 2006/2007==> the ONE THING that I feel I've paid a high price in exchange for the year of experience. I SO GONNA MISS THEM!!!! And not convoing with them just makes it sucky!!!!

Call my old. Call me sentimental. Call me 生在福中不知福 but I feel like apart of me is griefing for the inability to be in the field with the rest of you guys now. The pain, the grief and the sweat, the tears that all of you are going through right now I'll never know till next year when I go through it myself. Therefore useless I stand as I have NO IDEA what to do as I'm always have and idealistic view till I go into the REAL world.

Went through my Visa interview today and watch Ice Age 3. All went down according to plan and I can only pray that the plas will continue to flow nicely.

BTW, I'm in PJ now....Ciao

I'm still here!!! Alive and Kicking..,

I know I know its been a while since i last updated my blog but then again. A lot have been happening to me for the past week so here goes.

After finnaly completing my medical stuff i went down 2 KL on tuesday. Reached PJ and rested. Nothing exciting happened la...

Then came Wednesday when YR and I went to hand up our Medical+Visa stuff to Miss Kalis and as she sat there going through our details. She cleared YR and mine and just as she looked through my passport, she said i do not have enough 6 months left after i come in May. So i hv 2 renew my passport even B4 it expired. SUCKY!!! 300 just flew off the window. sigh. but it was fast. I did it at 11.30am and was told that i can pick it up by 1.30pm. Thats like 2 hours and its done wei=D Malaysia has really improved=D

Picked up the passport and had 2 redo the visa application again so hv 2 go all thw way 2 the office and do and my my does technology hate me! I filled in the form 3 times and the next screen that came put was 'SERVICE UNAVAILABLE'. Frastrated, i ask YR 2 do it and she pass wif only 1 TRY!!!! stupid technology.

The next day saw everybody in HM A5-1 coming back. Jinni reached 1st the came Rachel and then we told that Hugh wanted us the babysit his GF at Midvalley till he arrives at 10pm. We did just that and came home 2 find that there were 12 ppl going 2 crash in our place that night. That night A5-1 really felt like a shelter home for the homeless..LOL

Went for the Teaching Practise workshop on Friday=D Glad for Jinni and Rachel that they got YR and my place at CHS. All things worked out la in the end. Took an incomplete class photo but what the hack, all the ppl that mattered to me were there(except Jinni and Rachel who was in school...sigh). Spent the night at Sze and the gang's new place. Went shopping b4 that and man did i realise i was really and old man and a potential father figure....is that a good thing or a bad thing? u decide=D

Saturday was cool. Had fun at the bazaar at KLPac. I so should have bought the feather hairband wif Grace!!! regret regret...LOL

Went to Sze's church on sunday and finally met the Yap's as a family. Uncle David was fun and Aunty Jenny was cool. We went 2 Ijok for dinner and everybody was staring at us like we were aliens or exhabits just because we were the most multi-racial table around. When la will the Rakyat stop doing that and accept that this is Malaysia and move on...All that aside, the food was GGGOOOOODDD!!! hehe

Went 2 Sri Aman on monday and man were the girls quick at spotting trainees. As soon as we walk in only they were like:' Look new Trainee teachers!!" WOW those hounds can really smell fresh blood man!!! LOL...Met other trainees in Sri Aman and found that they have a room specially for trainess only. Immunisation sucks!!!

ITS FINALLY DONE!!!!

After all the running around and hunting for a good bargain its finally over!!!

Now my body is filled with the vacsine for Maningistis and MMR and trust me, IT NO FUN!!!!!!!

I feel like throwing up and sometimes headache will loom occationally but i shall reassure myself that its nothing more than its side effects and it will soon pass... What sucks now is that i have 2 abstain from stuff like seafood and whatever food stuff that is deemed 'TOXIC' by my mum. I'm apparently bound 2 Koay Teow Th'ng and Moi for at least 2 days and IT SUCKS!!!! I WANT MY CHAR KOAY TEOW, OR CHIEN, HOKKIEN MEE, CURRY MEE and BLA BLA BLA...sigh='(

On a brighter side, it can now go 2 the US Embassy and hand up whatever crap medical stuff that they want from me and allowed access now. Hopefully the US dream will still happen as now Malaysia is in Tier 3 of violating the dun know what Human Rights for Refuges thingy and in Tier 3, exchange programmes MAY be cancelled. So whatever la. Jadi Jadi la, Tak jadi. Pi teaching practice saja...LOL

Well i've been thinking of some stuff and dun know whether its a good thing or notbut hey, thats another story...

Till then. CIAO=D

Minnesota State University, Mankato a.k.a MMSU

YEAP ITS OFFICIAL!!!

I'm going there for 1 year(actually 10 months nia) and will be flying off on the 17-8-2009.

Went down to KL on thursday and knowing me, there alwasys drama involve.(will only disclose in person) because of the briefing with Ms Kalis on friday. Spent the night at m old PJ house.

Picked up YR at 8am and only managed to reach MACEE at 9am. Man the traffic in KL is NUTS tell u! When Ms Kalis brought out both our welcome packs, there it was, stated in capitol letters:

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO

Well now i have to do my medical check up and get jabs for immunizations that i dun have under Minnesota State law. Man it sucks!!!

Met up with Khai Shing, Khai Sheng, Rachel and Yu Han. They shared their experience and told us loads of stuff which i will not bore u with. It was good to finally meet them.

Did UM stuff d. Looks like I'll really not be doing teaching practise with the rest. It just like dawn on me when i sent in those applications for Penarikkan Diri that i will be postponing my life in UM for a year and come back to recontinue it after US. WALAUEH!!!! From UM to MMSU, guess i can never get away from the M&U when it comes to uni education...LOL(lame i know).

Nonetheless, i'm grateful for all the thing the Good Lord My God has done for me. Psalm 121 is the best now for my kind of situation now as i can do nothing but look to HIM when i need help...

Well, thats it for now. Tired from all the travelling back for KL. Ciao

Thinking and Wishing and Hoping and Praying...

I need 2 sent in letter for postponent for uni, letter for PTPTN and everything else but no confirmation letter means no go...When will it come leh? I need to proceed with my stuff wei...U know these procedures take YEARS to do 1 la with our super 'efficient' civil servants...sigh

On a lighter note...Home alone today..so fun!!! Nobody's home. Everybody is either at college, Perlis or Melacca so i can finally get that peace and quite that i crave!!! althought its only for that brief 6 hours but it was wat i needed 2 calm myself, enjoy the time alone and do my thing(i.e MOVIEEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!)...hehe...Choose to be a homey cause in 2 months time i wanna be home pun no home 2 stay in d...oh well, just live the days that i still have la....

Finally manage 2 establish contact and she cleared a few doubt that i had for so long! Know some stuff that i'm uber happy about and can't wait to experience it myself!!! Faster August Faster Come!!!! Its gonna be FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!!!!

Till then...Ciao:P

Moved out...

I moved out today...

Left the place that i called home for the past 1 year. It was tough...

After an oven, 1 matress, 1 bucket, 1 laudry bag, 3 bags and 4 boxes later, i'm done! Its so fast! I guess I was living a very simple live after all...

Gonna miss the place, the people and the familiar surroundings. Hopefully after a year later i can move back, if the conditions are still the same like now....hopefully...

Its just sad to leave PJ and KL after being here for 3 years albeit all the complaining and all;P

Nostalgia lingers....

Closure....

I really needed it! It was time for it anyway cause it was dragging far on too long. I finally manage to put a fullstop to the whole thing after 3 years but i'm just glad that it's done albeit it took almost a whole day. its timely as well as i've managed to put it all behind me and get a clean break as i prepare 4 US.

Its so funny on how it was a change of event. I saw things from a different light and said things that i've never dared said to the other person.

IT WAS GOOD!!=D

Some Updates...

Its been awhile since i last updated so here are some new happenings in my life!

I was bitten by a fire ant yesterday while working outside Francis Light Primary School. It started to itch but its better now. Thank God its not swelling.

I've been working 4 the last 2 days at my uncle's shop. just 2 help out la. Selling Nestle yogurt drink n Yoco. Had fun! Will be woring in a Toyota fair 2mlo. sigh only 1 day off! tiring eh...working sucks! Thank God i wont be working for another 2 years!!! HEHE

A few results are out. Am satsfied with the results. Thank God for all that he has blessed me with. I am eternally grateful and thankfl Lord! Hopefully there will be more good news but all the the thing i surender all in His good hands for He knows what is best for his children;P

Another thing is that my Lappy is dead! sadness but it happened. oh well. It was time anyway. Believe it or not, my laptop had not been formated B4!!! It was bought in July 2006 and its now almost 3 year. ITS TIME!!!!hehe

After exam has been relaxing! so happy 2 be home!!! Home 2 where i grew up. Sadly i'll have 2 clean up my PJ house this month end. Going 2 miss all the fun i had there. The people, friendships and all the memories that i had there...sob

As i look forward 2 my US trip, I will cntinue 2 cherish the time left that i hv wif the people i've grown 2b close 2 for the last 3 years. It has been 3 great years and i had wanted a nice break from all the studies that i've had in UM. A nice change of environment is what i had wanted and with this Fulbright Scholarship that pays for everything, I thank GOD its an answered prayer=D

Till then, Ciao;P

Peaple exam I exam;P

Hi ppl, i know everybody is done or almost done with their exam but unfortunately i still hv 1 more paper 2 go. So sien rite?! but oh well. wat 2 do, but it has been a fruitful week since i've been back in PJ so i'm not complaining!:P

Since I came back 2 PJ i been having fun!!! After exam on the 23/4, we drove 2 Sitiawan 2 Jinni's place n had fun!!! Ate lots of stuff n even went 2 pangkor and got ourselves stranded there 4 2 hours because The Navy had some event on at Lumut Port. Had Kong Piang,Peanut soup,Kam Pua Mee,Ang Chiew Mee Sua and SEAFOOD!!! so nice 2 go visit once a while. Next up Kuantan yeah Rachel;P

After back on saturday i had 2 teach kidzone again. Object lesson was good and i'm glad tat THAT is over n now i can say i've taught 3 time d lol.

Had Profi yesterday and i think i might have written over words n out of topic but who cares, I'm just hoping tat it will be over n i wouldn't need 2 take profi anymore!!!!After tat we went round KLCC area looking 4 the G2000 sale and it was dissapointing. The cloths tat were left sucked! They were all in gourdy colors so didn't buy anything. So we went 2 Cineleisure instead 4 the Zara sale n man was it crazy! there was 2 long lines queuing but Grace who was inside said it was good so we queued lo. When we masuk inside the stuff for Zara n Pull n Bear was low but noy within my budget. So Hugh n I left the 2 girls inside 2 shop n went 4 a movie instead. Watched X-Man Origin Wolverine! It was GGGOOOODDDD!!!! Highly recommanded 2b watched in the cinema:P Later we met up with the girls 4 dinner n balik.

Went 2 Taman tasik titiwangsa this morning for SheepUnited Cell-outing. We went and played Zorbball n Gag-a-roo!!! ok for those who don't know wat Zorbballing is, its basic going inside a plastic ball n roll inside. Yeap tats rite, u get 2 know how the hamster feels like tat u've always wanted 2 find out! It was fun being inside the ball with Joe and filled with 2 buckets of water. Really felt like inside a washing machine!LOL came out comletely wet but fully 'clean' LOL;P RM20 for a ride but it was good clean fun;P

After everybody had a turn, we decided 2 play something different! It was called the Gag-a-roo! basiclly it like walking on stilts but with spring in it so u get 2 bounce while walking. Totally AWESOME K!!! Wearing the thing n walk felt like a baby again where u have 2 learn how 2 walk n run despite being totally unstable, just like a baby:P Grasped tat in just 5 mins and managed 2 hop with it~so proud of myself~;P

So basiclly tats was the update of this week. Hopefully the next post will bear good news:p~fingers crossed!~

Till then, ciao;P

Back in PJ..AGAIN...

Once again i'm back in PJ and its no surprise that I HATE IT HERE!!!

But this time i'm gonna do something different. Instead of lamenting on how miserable i'm feeling, i wanna look at another end of the spectrum. Yes. For now, as for this moment, i'm gonna talk about the thing that i'm grateful for being in KL. Here goes nothing:

I'm glad to be in PJ because of:

1)My close gang of friends that i know i can always count on when i'm here staying miserable! Hugh,Rachel Hua,Jin Ni,Shobee,Yeong Ru,Grace,Sze Sze,Racheal,Jen Hann,Francis and many more") XOXO

2)The awesome ppl that i'm come to know in KL and PJ. Be it my gang, housemates, coursemates,Buddy,Juniors,CC,Kidzone teachers or the kids i'm teaching in KZ. LOVE U ALL TO BITS!!!

3)UM! Although i wish UM was in Penang but if it wasn't, I wouldn't have got the chance to meet these awasome ppl that have impacted my life one way or another whether they r aware o it or not.

4)The independece that i've learnt to adapt to. I now know that i won't die if i'm forced out of my house and am capable of being independent;P

5)The freedom of being able to do anything i want, whenever i want, wherever i want!I'm the boss of my own time and am responsible for what i do, when i do it and where i do it!

6)The knowledge that i'm actually appreciated back in Penang!(I'm sad and pathetic,I know haha) It's nice to be missed once in awhile and to be pampered when i come back to Penang. Mum would cook eventhough she hates cooking just because I'm home and Grandma would cook too!

7)All the long talks and catching up with my friends back home on whatever that's happening in each others lives as we update each other(YES guys do that too, not just girls ok)

8)The ppl in PJ doesn't know how i behave in Penang and likewise the Ppl in Penang doesn't know how i behave in PJ. I get to experiment different personalities and test out to see whether what is acceptable in PJ is acceptable in Penang and vice versa. (trust me, u ppl in PJ and Penang don't know how different i am when i'm away.hahahahahah)

9)many other things that i cannot think of rite now but i'm still thankful for anyways;P

So there u have it, the things i'm thankful for as i'm now in PJ. Exam starts this Thursday and thats y i'm back here so i gotta study soon. Maybe start tomorrow la;P

Till then, Ciao;P

As the dust settles...

Things are finally looking better;P

Went out on Thurday nite wif SHobee n her cousin to 21 Kitchen at Cangkat Bukit Bintang for a fashion show by Mickey Tan as I was bored n apparently stalking other ppl's blog. Had my first Cocktail-Watermelon Martini and tried several others -white russian n honey bunny..ok la not to bad;P came back at 2am but hey its friday the next day rite so who cares..lol

Was told that YR n I got Catholic High for out Teaching Practice. She was overwhelmed but i just laughed. It was our 2nd choice-my choice 2b exact after she took Taman Sea as our 1st choice. hehe

Today i went out the whole day with Elena n Rachel. Bought my 1st Sub pants at a discounted price.Uber happy:)

this week has been fun filled. At least I was occupied so i didn't think about other stuff so much. As things start 2 fall into place i hope the weekend would come back soon so that i can balik n leave this depressing place call KL.

Wanna go find food now..Ciao

I wanna run!!!!!!

I want 2 be liberated...I wanna be free...I wanna be released...

I can't wait 4 this two weeks 2 pass. In fact i want it 2 be over NOW so that I can go back HOME!!!...

Rest assured, i'm not homesick. Its been 3 years since i left home so i can deal with that. in fact i'm happy that i'm out of home as I've learned a lot from this out of home experience. i feel that i've really grown a lot from all this 3 years.

It just that this sem has been tough, especially the last month. Assignments, presentations and more assignments, its too much. I feel like i've studied enough. 4 years is too long. I wanna escape. I wanna run. I wanna drop all this crap n just dun look back.

So now all i do is moan n cry n wish 4 8/4/2009 to come so that i'll be free...free..free...

Drained...

I feel empty n hollow inside.

I dun feel like i have anything more inside of me 2 give to this world.

Worst thing is there are exams, tests and presentations 2 attend 2 but i just dun feel like i've anything 2 give.

I feel zapped out, drained n lost. I feel so uncertain about the future. Unable 2 plan 4 things 2 happen n work through the months n weeks is so not me.

I seem 2b losing control over my life n i can't stand 2 c it slip by n do nothing. I gotda do something! Anything! but i just have no strength left...just 2 hollow 2 give.

James rite! how do i give bread if i myself dun eat bread?

I need 2 recharge, rejuvante and re-energize myself.

I need 2 find, comfort, confidence n composure.

and for that, i need HOME, FAMILY, SOLITUDE!!!

sigh...

Things are slowly coming to place...

I've made ammends and now i will leave it to play out as life would want. not bothering anymore:P

Super happy d! All work is done! no more late nites cause all written assignments are down the drain! they have all been signed, sealed and delivered so whatever happens now, happens la. I still have 2 more presentations to do and thats about it. Listening test as well as improptu speech will b on monday and then speaking is on next monday and then...IT"LL BE OVER!!!! can't wait 4 it 2 be over...I wanna go home and rest during study break. I NEED 2go home and rest during study break.

This month has been an emotional roller coaster. Friendships were tested, assignment presure and the late night, last minute work is just too much to handle. I just hope all this will just go away n nvr return. I dun wanna do this anymore:P

Ok la. Got 2 go live life and pray that this month's 'adventures' would soon come 2 an end. Ciao:P

Do I disgust u?

Do i? Do I?

Is it that bad until u have 2 hide urself from me?

Do I really disgust u that badly that u have 2 resort 2 not coming back for 2 days now?

U said it was fine d but ur actions show otherwise. If u have a problem with me, come find me! Don't run and hide...

I have no problem facing u coz i dun c anything wrong but if u do, come face me! I won't eat u, i won't shout.

But if it's because of HER that's making u avoid me then that settles it!!! I would be lying if I say I'm not mad but I'll take the high road. I CHOOSE TO TAKE THE PATH LESS TRAVELLED BY and I'll leave u guys alone. At the same time, I truely, sincerely wish u both all the best in ur future undertakings from the bottom of my heart...

BUT know this as well....

I'm truely disappointed with u...T.T

Only time will tell....

It has already happened and i can't do anything about it. I can't turn back time and take back what i said but i dun regrat saying those words. I'm sad that it got misinterpreted and cause all this unhappiness 2 happen but at least we've talked about it and solved it. I hope it is buried and dead n will not come 2 haunt us in the future, if we ever will have one after this!!!

I hope u know i value our friendship A LOT. Words would not even begin to describe how much IT HURTS after all the shit that we've been through for the past coming 3 years but if u choose to put that 1 and a half years in front of us then i can only say i'm disappointed and i wish u well...

I love to have things like they were b4 but i KNOW it will not ever happen. Things will never be the same again. I HOPE, SERIOUSLY HOPE from the bottom of my heart that i am wrong and u do the very least still hold our friendship as dear as i do...

It did not play out as how i wanted it to be. The aim was her, NEVER U. It hurt the wrong person and i admit it was wrong for us to assume that u would look at it our angle. It backfired. It was meant to UPSET, not ploted against because we was jealous and wanted u to fail n fall. There was NEVER, EVER the intention of seeing u fall or fail. That was NEVER, EVER there. IT was all misinterpreted because of A word and the both of u don't even know its true meaning!!!U know as well as i do that I've always supported u in whatever u were planning on doing. U always ran them by me and i just gave u my opinion. I know u look up to me but i'm only human, i made a mistake...

Oh how i wish it will be over and we were back to how we were. Things were good then but now it is so awkward and to a certain level, fake. Will it ever be the same again? Will the wounds ever heal? or will it leave a scar so deep that it would take forever to heal?

...Only time will tell:'(...

HaPPY BirthDay RACHEL!!!

As i now write this, there are still piling assignments to be completed and presentations to be presented tomorrow but i'm typing a post for a reasons i do not know y..haha

Celebrated Rachel's Birthday today at chili's with Jinni, Hugh and Ling Sii. Had lamb and nachos and bottomless drinks. After the whole thing, we even had cake from Secret Recipe, Tiramisu and Hazel indulgence. The waiter(whom the girls thought was super cute:P)name was Sudan and he was very helpful. He had initaitive and helped us to take a picture without us asking at all. All i needed to do was to stand up with the camera and asked everyone to sit closer and he just came and said "Sir let me help u" So nice of him. The girls gave him a super polished remark in the comment card and he was happy and smiling when he saw what was written in it. When shopping after that for awhile even though we all had assignments to do. Ah...college years:P

The picture that Sudan took for us:)

I'm sitting in the living room of my apartmen with the smell of rotten egg. Someone had kept eggs till they are rotten and now the whole place smell like the black ink for chinese caligraphy. stinky but anyways...

Have to get back to work. Ciao...

Internet Connection SUCKS!!!

Its been days now that the connection at my place in PJ sucks! I can't even load facebook without waiting for at least 5 minutes. Reading e-newspaper is a drag as everything takes time to load!!!!! Even the internet connection in 9 college is faster as i went to use yesterday!!!! WALAUEH...what is streamyx doing!!!!!

I wanna do a lot stuff like assignments and work but because of te stupid connection, after waiting for it to load finish also i no mood to do d cause of the waiting....sian wei...

Assignments berlambak gila...dun understand y some lecturers give so tidious word to do just for an assignments, they think we only have their subject and no other lecturers got give work kah? We also have other assignments to do wan wei, not just urs alone. How r we gonna do everything on time when ur assignment alone takes up like all of it!!!!

Someothers even worse, every adjective that is written in an assignment cannot be repeated. We are suppose to give her variety!!! whats veriety to u is more work for us. Don't you know that think and completing that assignments is already headache enough, now have to think multiple ways to say the poem is about sadness!!!! Heck that dude is dying when he wrote the poem, how many words are out that taht can discribe that feeling wei!!!!! STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!

Dun wanna continue d, if not more unpleasant words will come out. Gotta start finishing assignments but 1st, have to wait 4 the page to load...AGAIN!!!!!!!

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

Kiong Hee Huat Chai!!!!

Chinese New Year started 6 days ago the time of the year where I get my clean 'profit' is here again. The place to visit is dwindling as the senior continue to knowck off 1 by 1.

During this few days, I had no problem with spending my time doing the things that I enjoy namely Pai Nee, going out with my Grandma, doing her passport, hanging out with my friends, watching movies, doing nothing....

But Hugh called today and of all things, asked me about Nesarmala's assignments. Shit! I had put off assignments for so long that I forgot about them and he had to ruin the peace. So now i'm have no choice after being 'reminded' of my work looks like I have to Kooi Kang....sigh....

Back home for New Year is fun and all but back home I tend to put my KL life on hold. That part of my life I've always kept seperate but now looking at the schedule, I have no choice but to bring that part of my life to Penang as well.

The thought of doing nothing is no more and now I have to start work and this is one part of the holiday that i hate. HOWEVER, looking at the bright side, I have another week of self declared holiday and that's something too look forward to:P

Till then, gatta continue with my blessing in disguise. Bye.

Sayang....Kau Kau will always miss you:'(

My 5 Ee passed on 4 days ago and I left KL on Thurday afternoon.

I'm was super sad then and still am. I know i may sound unrational but I still want her with me. She was sick lah and it was better that she went back to the Father and thus ended her suffering but still...I was not ready to say good bye. She was only 46. How am I suppose to accept that! My 'sayang' always wanted me stay with her but I always had to leave for KL. Stupid UM at Stupid KL. Y can't it just be in Penang, then i don't need to leave Penang!T.T

When had fun together. She was only double my age. She the 1 who took care of me when I was young and kena buli by my other cousins. She was the one who took me go jalan-jalan. She was the one who took me to my 1st movie outing at Rex cinema and together we took the bus there and back. She was always there. Now she is gone! GONE!!!Yes she's gone HOME to be with the LORD but I still want her here!SOB!

When she was cremated I was crying buckets. I don't know how the other can withhold their tears but I was all blury...I didn't get to talk 2 her for the last time. When I wanted to call her 3 days b4 she went down hill, she couldn't talk to me,she just didn't have the strength to and i know it was bad. SHE never refuse to talk to me. She was always excited to talk 2 me. Now we can never talk again! I'll never hear her voice again and it pains me!!!!!

When I was told about her death, I had a dream then she was sitting in the living of of my Grandma's house in blue. All her sister's were helping her mother decorating and she was just sitting on the floor. her favorite spot when we are always talking. She was just looking around, happy that everybody is with her. How I'll miss her simple joys in everything.

Sayang has taught me a lot. She always love me calling her that. She would smile and always said that she wanted to follow me to I leave to further my studies overseas. She would want to tag along and cook for me. Now...sigh...

We put her to rest today and it was sunny. She loved sunny days. She loved to sing. Now...I can only have memories of that...

I WANT MY 5 EE BACK!!!! but sadly My God loved her more and took her HOME and in a way, it was good as it ended her suffering on earth to a better place.

Till we meet again 5 Ee...Sayang...

Its too much....

I'm spending too much these past 2 days...and most of it is on food. Why must food be so expensive wan? Cannot accept la. I'm spending most of my money that I told myself I must stary saving but it's not happening.

For the past 2 days(thursday and Friday), I have been going out with the gang from Midvalley to Sunway and even to Nichii Warehouse sale at Cheras. Spending money on clothes and books are one thing but food expenses all around are high as well and as a common known fact, I eat..A LOT, so how do I keep myself from spending too much will be beyond me, especially when it's meal times. The makan areas at these places all cost 10 bucks and above, so exp wei! sigh....I can't just not eat or I'll slowly turn into specs of dust...literary:P

Oh well...guess I'll just have to suck it up and move on. Will be going out again with Yoong Lin and the Desa Persona gang later. Hopefully I wouldn't spend too much.

GOT TO STOP SPENDING!!!( I contridict myself, don't I?):P

Thank GOD!!!

I thank God for His providence and grace. I'm now one step away from going to US and it will not happen if not for Him! All glory and Praise goes back to Him. I can only do so much through Him that empowers me!

I'm super excited compared to few days ago when I was depressed that the programme rep did not call me. Yesterday they did and today I recieve a mail that says that I'm nominated and what stands in my way is a TOEFL test. I plan to take it ASAP and see what will happen! I know that He has brought me so far and now I plan to just take it 1 step at a time and see how it all plays out. The good Lord is always good and I know He will guide me through for He only gives the best for His children!

So...anyone have any idea on how a TOEFL test is suppose to be? Format? Past Years? Do tell if you have even an inkling of what it is abt. Nothing is insignificant. Thank you:p

Till then...got to go to bed now. BYE.

Class tomorrow...

....and the vicious cycle begins again. Classes and assignments mad rush will soon take over and life will be crowded again. The love/hate relationships with people we meet and the praise/bickering about lecturers will soon come to past and then it will be just another one of those semesters I some how survived....

I dread to go class lah tomorrow but the holidays have once again come to an end and I will have to enter class again. Australia and Rose Cheh Cheh's wedding is a thing of the past and now I have to start listening to lectures, attending classes on time and work on assignments. It was a traumatic time last sem but hopefully this sem would be a better one.

However, on the bright side, I'll finally meet the people that I have not seen for a whole 2 months. These people have come to form an important part of my life and it would be hard to imagine my life without them now. The joys and pains that we share and endured throughout the years have only made our relationships stronger and I hope in this new year, it will continue to grow...

Till now I have no idea why am I taking this course but one thing is certain. It's all in good hands as I know all things are in His hands and God only gives the best for His children for He loves me so and for that, I'm FOREVER GRATEFUL:P

That's all for now. Till then, ciao...

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!!!

Happy New Year 2009 Everybody!!!

Watch night service was good. Thank God for all He has done for ME and my family for the year 2008. He always looks after His children and only gives the best for them.

This is a praise report for the last day of the year 2008.

I was informed that I shortlisted for an interview for the Global Ugrad but my interview is this friday. My cousin's wedding is this friday so how? The woman on the phone sounded so persistant that my interview can only be friday. She then said she'll see what she can do and hung up. I Was so scared that i will lose it. Thank God that she called me back and told me that they are willing to give me a phone interview! Praise God! Really praise God man! All glory goes back to him!

That all for today. Looking forward to start the new year and lets pray that it will be a good year ahead! WOOHOO!
