This time last year...

This time last year I was at Wal mart buying a pillow, sheets, a blanket and chapstick in Zombie mode. I had just met 4 beautiful and amazing girls from Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Serbia. I had just woken up from the 1 hour van ride from MSP to Mankato and was on my way to be checked into Crawford B316.

I can remember it just like yesterday. Perviosuly I had just flew 33 hours from Malaysia to MSP. I arrived at 1.30pm and was sitting for about an hour before Lisa came and picked me up. We took the Lightrail to the Mall of America and had my first treat! Nestle Toolhouse chocolate chip milkshake!!! AWESOME!!!! We came back after and hour and greeted Zully. We talked for and hour before meeting Isabel. Finally Ana and Mirjana came and we headed off to the van where we were on our way to Mankato.

Thinking about all this just shows me how much a year can change a man. I have grown so much within that 9 months as IT was truely an amazing journey for me. It allowed me to meet amazing people, forged lifelong friendships and to see the world in a whole new different light.

I would not say that it was a loss but the opportunity cost of not graduating with my coursemates still stings till this day. Even seeing them iron their robe the other day was so much sorrow that I had to just go to the room to shut of that image. I really hope what they say about time heals is true cause I really want to whole when my turn comes to convo.

But all said and done, I would not have done anything differently. I would not wish for anything different cause if I had left this year instead of last year, I would have not met this AMAZING BUNCH where I consider my INTERNATIONAL FAMILY!!!

So here is to our one year anniversary of meeting each other! To lifelong friendships and an amazing experience.

HERE IS TO US!!!=)

Winter Break Stop 5-Philadelphia,Pennsylvania to Washington DC

Started the next day at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Went to the independence Hall and Liberty Bell!!! Again as we had breakfast already, we manage 2 enter Independence Hall!!! Took a few pciture around the courtyard but couldnt enter the place as it would only open at 9am and we need 2 leave by 9.15am. Saw the first Public Library created by Ben Franklin though!!

Next was the walk 2 the US Mint! I WAS EXCITED!!! I'm was thinking of seeing if they have coins for exchange and there they ahd a machine that would dispence the latest quarter and it was the Southern Samoa Islands!!! Went to the cashier and managed 2 get another US Virgin Island quarter. The only regret was that I should have bought the Deleware quarter! Hopefully whith this 4 months I will somehow manage 2 get it!!! After that, we were on our way 2 Washington DC..AGAIN!!!..LOL

We went 2 just outside of the White House and took a few pictures. then we went Capitol Hill and took another few pictures before heading towards the Smithosian Musuem of Natural History. Instead of going to that which i had alrady see, i went to the National Gallery of Art and took a few pictures of the presidential portraits...felt so much more meaningful to me=)

Finally was the Jefferson Memorial which YR and I had not visited prior to this visit! when we saw it it was just AWESOME! Didnt know that Jefferson's Statue stood looking directly at the White House in a straight line to remind past and present Presidents that I'M WATCHING YOU! Govern my people wisely!!LOL.. had some drama on the way but hopefully it doesnt hurt my score of my test;P

Went to the Lincoln Memorial next and finally found the spot where Martin Luther King gave his famous I Have a Dream Spot~ It was engraved on the steps and ppl keep telling me that it was a sign on the steps but no one bothered to mention that it was an engraving to the floor! wasted my energy last time running up and down the steps looking 4 something taht is reflective..LOL..Saw the Korean Memorial which we missed last visit and man was it creepy 2 visit it at night with all the 19 statues randomly placed in those positions! LOL.

Finally the bus took us all the way 2 Maryland to stay at the Marriott hotel. We went out 4 dinner and saw a Malaysian restaurant but the price was over the roof so we went 4 Thai food instead. It was still good. Bathe and a few minutes of waiting 4 a free wifi later, hence me writing this post to u=)

Over all The Mint in Philly and the National Gallery of Art were the BEST for today! I love it ! It was like I could stay there forever making my own coins!!! LOL...Tomorrow Niagra Falls!!! The wonderful Works of Nature!! Cant WAIT!!! Wat can I say, i'm a sucker for Art and Nature=)

Till then...Ciao=)

Birthday Getaway

It was fall break and my birthday so Kaori, Brian, Oona, Rabya and me went 2 Minnapolis, it was so long d since I havent gottten out of Mankato that I was so jakun when I left. I felt stupid at times but hey when u dun have a car here, Everything is far. Here public transport is crap so I appreciate Malaysia more now even though our public transport is crap too.

We went to Edina, Brian's dad's house. It was a sub urb setting at the place was GOOD!!! It was a rich man's area wei. according 2 Brian, CEOs of BestBuy, Walmart, Target and others all own houses here. There was a house wif 6 LUXURY cars like cardillac, ferrari and all. I only manage 2 see the cadillac when the garage open but still!!! Americans with their material possessions~~sigh...

We went to Mall of America and walked the whole day 4 min 4 hours and that also we didnt finish the mall...Too big d la the mall!!!....

Went back to Edina n on the way we brought Alchohol. We had a drinking spree at the basement and needless to say, I join in the fun la. I drank and drank and drank and yes, I was drunk...for a while. I was tipsy and spoke crap. Almost smoked weed when it was offered but had to restarin myself as i'm inexeperienced and the experience ppl also didnt want to. So since the experienced ppl didn't do it, I dun think i should. It was a smart call cause the pplk who did smoke after tat was GONE!!! They had no idea what happened and we woke up at 1pm. It was great though. During that time they celebrated my birthday and I had a birthday Pizza! I love practicality!!=)

On our way home we talkeda bout what happened last night and realised all the crap we were talking and I was embarassed at the info i let loose 2 them. It was nothing serious but still i would Never had those conversations if i was sober.LOL. It was a great trip and it was all Thanks to Kaori, Mufasa/Brian(lol), Oona and Rabya!!! Love u guys=)

I came back on saturday doing laundry and watch loads and loads of drama!!! desperate housewives, grey's anatomy all the shebang!!LOL...ah its stuff like this that I love america=)

On Sunday after church, The Winchs (my friendship family) took me out for a birthday makan! It was so sweet of them. They took me to Buffolo wings which was a great place to hang out! They even gave me presents!!! I got a sweater and a blanket!!! They tied it themselves. pics are on FB!!! It was lovely!! So happy and Greatful to tyhe lord for always providing 4 me evn though i'm so far away from home. He still looks after His child and I'm eternally grateful!!!!

So my weekend was a great one and I hope next week will be better. till then...ciao=)

Glenn's birthday(25/9/09)

It was Glenn's birthday on Friday and Kaori, Maria and I were invited for a dinner party at a pizzaria downtown. We Had 3 14' pizzas-4 cheese, Pepperoni and Deli. The 4 cheese was the best=) kaori and I gave Glenn a card and a pack of snikers. Maria gave him a card. We all ate till we were full.

After dinner they drovw us to their house and MAN was their house HUGE!!! It has a backyard of a football field and it was behind a soy bean field. Aaron showed me the brick circle he was building. IT WAS A HUGE HOUSE and they only go it for $250000!!! cheap rite.

We went into the house and played ping pong at the basement. They even have a drum set in the basement. SO COOL. While waiting for Glenn to come back from getting ice cream, Aaron and I played WII while the girls played with the cat. Ann brought in the cake which she baked by herself and it was spelled DAD hahaha

We sang happy birthday to Glenn when he came back. Later we played a game called Apples to Apples. It was great fun=) We had a little family time in the living room later and we just chilled. Bullied Aaron for a while=) and then we called it a night at 10pm. Glenn drove us home.

On my way to my room, I realised that I left my keys at their house so i had to call Glenn at their home and they helped me find it. It was at the basement by the ping pong table. Glenn drove all the way back to Crawford to give it back to me. So touched and paiseh...

And that was basically my weekend. Wasn't a very exciting one this week. Hopefully it will pick up the next.

Till then...ciao!

I WON!!! I WON!!!!

Today was such an AWESOME day taht I have to blog about it!!!! I went to St Peter Regional Treatment Centre for community service and ended up with so much more. There was a Diversity Event held by the St Peter Regional Treatment Centre and Sully, Isabel and I went for it. We had to bring things from our home country to promote our country to the inmates. We were there since 10am and Karla and Bert, the representatives from the Centre brought us to St Peter. I was excited as it was my first trip out of Mankato. We reached the Centre and set up our tables and started sharing with everybody that came by. It was fun. We talked for hours. Although the inmates were all classified as mentally ill and dangerous, the people that came were quite fun to be with. They were very engaging and asked a lot of interesting questions. Now I know how the Tourism board people feel when they go around the world promoting Malaysia in exhibitions. After the event, Bert took us around St Peter and when she heard that we have not seen an apple tree before, she drove us to a staff member’s house name Catherine who had an apple tree in her yard. We had fun and I got to pick my first apple from an apple tree=) After that Bert drove us back to Mankato. It was a short but fun trip and I was so thankful that Bert brought us around without us asking. That was so hospitable of them.

later after dinner, there was Fire Dance in the field in front of the Performance Art Theatre. It started at 8pm. Went there with Nanayah, Nargiza, Lennard and Sully. We saw the performance and it was GOOD! The girls were hot but the guys were not...LOL...love the performance though. Had so much fun with the stuff that they laid out for us to play with and we even got to play the drums for the event=) came back to the dorm at 9.30 and met Mike and the gang in the lounge and they told me that the Study Buck draw was at 10pm later. Went to my room and took my bucks and went down to the lobby to see what was there. Prize 1 was a free T-shirt and some candies. Prize 2 (which was what Mike and the rest was aiming for) was a box of PopCorn and some chick flick and Prize 3 was DVD of season 4 of Entourage. I wanted a free T shirt and so I put my bucks into the 1st jar. When the draw started, low and behold, I WON!!!! so now I have a free T-shirt and a lot of candy. Gave Mike and the rest some but i took the sniker bars and 100 grand chocolates=)So happy!!!

So that in short concludes my day today. So happy! It was a GOOD DAY!!!=)

Till then...CIAO=)

Continue from Changi

After I left for Japan, it was a 7 hour flight from Singapore. MAN IT WAS LONG!!!!

Reached Japan and transited for 2 hours. then flew to Minneapolis for 12 hours. By the time i reach MN at 1.30pm(US TIME), I was complete drained out. Sat and waited for 2 hours b4 I met the woman who came 2pick me up. Her name was Lisa Stofel and since we had 2 more hours b4 the next girl comes, She took me 2 MALL OF AMERICA!!!!. It was SO BIG!!!! We took the LRT there and Minneapolis only has 1 line. LOL.

Went back after 1 and a half hour and when we reached the airport, I met Sully(pronounced Soo Li) -from Costa Rica. We chatted and found out she was also majoring in TESL. LOL. Same advisor some more. Later we met Isabel from Nicaragua. She also majoring in TESL and thus the 3 of us from Ugrad are doing TESL!!!LOL The last 2 girls finally arrived and they were from a program call Forecast but alsi sponsored by World Learning.

On the way back driving from Minneapolis 2 Mankato was abt 1 and a half hour drive and being still on Malaysian time, I had major jetlag and slept all the way. Saw some beautiful scenaries but too tired to take any pictures. Sorry guys.

Reached Walmart to buy some sheets and pillows in total zombie mode. Reached and registerd at Crawford Hall and went straight 2 bed.

18/8/2009

Woke up at 6.30am 2 bathe and was out the door by 7 2 walk around campus b4 meeting dr Ishrat at 8am at the International student centre. Talked 2 her, registerd and went around looking at different activities that they offer in campus. Loved the stuff that they have. Thinking of stuff 2 join but we'll c.

The Orientation was FUN. I cant believe that its o different here than in Msia. Here the PMs actually help u and speak nicely unlike the ones back home. They even drive u around like now I just came back from River Hills Mall and drop u off right to ur doorstep.

Immunisation sucks!!!

ITS FINALLY DONE!!!!

After all the running around and hunting for a good bargain its finally over!!!

Now my body is filled with the vacsine for Maningistis and MMR and trust me, IT NO FUN!!!!!!!

I feel like throwing up and sometimes headache will loom occationally but i shall reassure myself that its nothing more than its side effects and it will soon pass... What sucks now is that i have 2 abstain from stuff like seafood and whatever food stuff that is deemed 'TOXIC' by my mum. I'm apparently bound 2 Koay Teow Th'ng and Moi for at least 2 days and IT SUCKS!!!! I WANT MY CHAR KOAY TEOW, OR CHIEN, HOKKIEN MEE, CURRY MEE and BLA BLA BLA...sigh='(

On a brighter side, it can now go 2 the US Embassy and hand up whatever crap medical stuff that they want from me and allowed access now. Hopefully the US dream will still happen as now Malaysia is in Tier 3 of violating the dun know what Human Rights for Refuges thingy and in Tier 3, exchange programmes MAY be cancelled. So whatever la. Jadi Jadi la, Tak jadi. Pi teaching practice saja...LOL

Well i've been thinking of some stuff and dun know whether its a good thing or notbut hey, thats another story...

Till then. CIAO=D

Minnesota State University, Mankato a.k.a MMSU

YEAP ITS OFFICIAL!!!

I'm going there for 1 year(actually 10 months nia) and will be flying off on the 17-8-2009.

Went down to KL on thursday and knowing me, there alwasys drama involve.(will only disclose in person) because of the briefing with Ms Kalis on friday. Spent the night at m old PJ house.

Picked up YR at 8am and only managed to reach MACEE at 9am. Man the traffic in KL is NUTS tell u! When Ms Kalis brought out both our welcome packs, there it was, stated in capitol letters:

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO

Well now i have to do my medical check up and get jabs for immunizations that i dun have under Minnesota State law. Man it sucks!!!

Met up with Khai Shing, Khai Sheng, Rachel and Yu Han. They shared their experience and told us loads of stuff which i will not bore u with. It was good to finally meet them.

Did UM stuff d. Looks like I'll really not be doing teaching practise with the rest. It just like dawn on me when i sent in those applications for Penarikkan Diri that i will be postponing my life in UM for a year and come back to recontinue it after US. WALAUEH!!!! From UM to MMSU, guess i can never get away from the M&U when it comes to uni education...LOL(lame i know).

Nonetheless, i'm grateful for all the thing the Good Lord My God has done for me. Psalm 121 is the best now for my kind of situation now as i can do nothing but look to HIM when i need help...

Well, thats it for now. Tired from all the travelling back for KL. Ciao

Closure....

I really needed it! It was time for it anyway cause it was dragging far on too long. I finally manage to put a fullstop to the whole thing after 3 years but i'm just glad that it's done albeit it took almost a whole day. its timely as well as i've managed to put it all behind me and get a clean break as i prepare 4 US.

Its so funny on how it was a change of event. I saw things from a different light and said things that i've never dared said to the other person.

IT WAS GOOD!!=D

Peaple exam I exam;P

Hi ppl, i know everybody is done or almost done with their exam but unfortunately i still hv 1 more paper 2 go. So sien rite?! but oh well. wat 2 do, but it has been a fruitful week since i've been back in PJ so i'm not complaining!:P

Since I came back 2 PJ i been having fun!!! After exam on the 23/4, we drove 2 Sitiawan 2 Jinni's place n had fun!!! Ate lots of stuff n even went 2 pangkor and got ourselves stranded there 4 2 hours because The Navy had some event on at Lumut Port. Had Kong Piang,Peanut soup,Kam Pua Mee,Ang Chiew Mee Sua and SEAFOOD!!! so nice 2 go visit once a while. Next up Kuantan yeah Rachel;P

After back on saturday i had 2 teach kidzone again. Object lesson was good and i'm glad tat THAT is over n now i can say i've taught 3 time d lol.

Had Profi yesterday and i think i might have written over words n out of topic but who cares, I'm just hoping tat it will be over n i wouldn't need 2 take profi anymore!!!!After tat we went round KLCC area looking 4 the G2000 sale and it was dissapointing. The cloths tat were left sucked! They were all in gourdy colors so didn't buy anything. So we went 2 Cineleisure instead 4 the Zara sale n man was it crazy! there was 2 long lines queuing but Grace who was inside said it was good so we queued lo. When we masuk inside the stuff for Zara n Pull n Bear was low but noy within my budget. So Hugh n I left the 2 girls inside 2 shop n went 4 a movie instead. Watched X-Man Origin Wolverine! It was GGGOOOODDDD!!!! Highly recommanded 2b watched in the cinema:P Later we met up with the girls 4 dinner n balik.

Went 2 Taman tasik titiwangsa this morning for SheepUnited Cell-outing. We went and played Zorbball n Gag-a-roo!!! ok for those who don't know wat Zorbballing is, its basic going inside a plastic ball n roll inside. Yeap tats rite, u get 2 know how the hamster feels like tat u've always wanted 2 find out! It was fun being inside the ball with Joe and filled with 2 buckets of water. Really felt like inside a washing machine!LOL came out comletely wet but fully 'clean' LOL;P RM20 for a ride but it was good clean fun;P

After everybody had a turn, we decided 2 play something different! It was called the Gag-a-roo! basiclly it like walking on stilts but with spring in it so u get 2 bounce while walking. Totally AWESOME K!!! Wearing the thing n walk felt like a baby again where u have 2 learn how 2 walk n run despite being totally unstable, just like a baby:P Grasped tat in just 5 mins and managed 2 hop with it~so proud of myself~;P

So basiclly tats was the update of this week. Hopefully the next post will bear good news:p~fingers crossed!~

Till then, ciao;P

Back in PJ..AGAIN...

Once again i'm back in PJ and its no surprise that I HATE IT HERE!!!

But this time i'm gonna do something different. Instead of lamenting on how miserable i'm feeling, i wanna look at another end of the spectrum. Yes. For now, as for this moment, i'm gonna talk about the thing that i'm grateful for being in KL. Here goes nothing:

I'm glad to be in PJ because of:

1)My close gang of friends that i know i can always count on when i'm here staying miserable! Hugh,Rachel Hua,Jin Ni,Shobee,Yeong Ru,Grace,Sze Sze,Racheal,Jen Hann,Francis and many more") XOXO

2)The awesome ppl that i'm come to know in KL and PJ. Be it my gang, housemates, coursemates,Buddy,Juniors,CC,Kidzone teachers or the kids i'm teaching in KZ. LOVE U ALL TO BITS!!!

3)UM! Although i wish UM was in Penang but if it wasn't, I wouldn't have got the chance to meet these awasome ppl that have impacted my life one way or another whether they r aware o it or not.

4)The independece that i've learnt to adapt to. I now know that i won't die if i'm forced out of my house and am capable of being independent;P

5)The freedom of being able to do anything i want, whenever i want, wherever i want!I'm the boss of my own time and am responsible for what i do, when i do it and where i do it!

6)The knowledge that i'm actually appreciated back in Penang!(I'm sad and pathetic,I know haha) It's nice to be missed once in awhile and to be pampered when i come back to Penang. Mum would cook eventhough she hates cooking just because I'm home and Grandma would cook too!

7)All the long talks and catching up with my friends back home on whatever that's happening in each others lives as we update each other(YES guys do that too, not just girls ok)

8)The ppl in PJ doesn't know how i behave in Penang and likewise the Ppl in Penang doesn't know how i behave in PJ. I get to experiment different personalities and test out to see whether what is acceptable in PJ is acceptable in Penang and vice versa. (trust me, u ppl in PJ and Penang don't know how different i am when i'm away.hahahahahah)

9)many other things that i cannot think of rite now but i'm still thankful for anyways;P

So there u have it, the things i'm thankful for as i'm now in PJ. Exam starts this Thursday and thats y i'm back here so i gotta study soon. Maybe start tomorrow la;P

Till then, Ciao;P
